Eldridge is a "Hometown With a Vision". Located near the Mississippi River, Eldridge is just minutes from the Quad Cities of Davenport, IA, Bettendorf, IA, Moline, IL, and Rock Island, IL. These four cities sustain a population of over one-half million. Our close proximity to Des Moines (165 miles west) and Chicago (175 miles east) makes the Eldridge area excellent for individuals, industries, and businesses.
The City of Eldridge was founded in 1871 and was built on land donated by Jacob M. Eldridge. It has a current population of about 4,800 and is located just 10 minutes north of Davenport, Iowa, 165 miles east of Des Moines and 175 miles west of Chicago.
The North Scott School district was formed in 1956 by uniting 14 smaller districts. Eldridge is home to Ed White Elementary School, North Scott Junior High and North Scott High School.
The city has a wide variety of businesses including a weekly newspaper, The North Scott Press and a local phone company, Central Scott Telephone and the Scott County Library headquarters. Four churches are located in Eldridge. It is home to four banks, a group of family physicians, a pharmacy, chiropractors, dentists, fitness centers, insurance agents, gas stations/convenience stores, numerous restaurants, a hardware and a grocery store -- to just name a few!
We are committed to attracting new business to our community and thus have developed a commercial park that is only five minutes from the Davenport Airport and Interstate 80. Located in the Quad-Cities - a metropolitan area with over 400,000 residents - we have the educated workforce you need.
Even though Eldridge is experiencing rapid growth, we haven't lost our hometown appeal. Our civic groups, schools, churches and people welcome you to take some time to get to know us.
